Starting from the small to large, let's look at some "platforms" that can be used and units we've built and/or delivered in the recently.  

First off vans, while typically used for ENG (electronic news gathering) and equipped with a microwave system and a mast, vans can be a very satisfactory platform for small productions.  Small gasoline generators are often included, and while not a great deal of power, it can be just enough to run a small production system.  GVW/GVWR on a van is typically 4,500-7,500 lbs. and requires no special license.  Rack room is quite limited (typically 3 or 4 "half" racks) and 3 people inside is usually the maximum.  United States Broadcast builds and refurbishes vans in as little as 10 days, and this results in significant savings and a production vehicle that is "ready to go to work" quickly.

Next up are the small production trucks.  These vehicles typically have a GVW/GVWR around 10,000 lbs. and require no special drivers license.  The most popular chassis include Chevy C-30, Ford E-250/350, and Chrysler 1500 series gasoline powered trucks.  These units can usually support 3-4 cameras, a few decks, and a small switcher and audio mixer.  Typically 3-4 people inside the truck is the maximum.  Air conditioning and heat is usually supplied by roof air units (they have gotten much better in recent years!), and this allows this type of vehicle to operate on standard 110V AC power (usually on large extension cords).  US Broadcast can custom build these units (from either new or used chassis) to our client's needs and a typical build time is 30-40 days (start to delivery).  

The next type of production truck includes platforms from 10,000 to 26,000 GVW/GVWR ratings (non-CDL).  These units begin to provide the room and weight carrying capacity to offer serious production capabilities.  Generators, while not common, can be fitted to this series and "self sufficient" production can become a reality.  Depending on the GVW/GVWR of the unit, heat and air can utilize roof air or "real air" (Bard, GE, Toshiba SU, etc.) climate control.  Triax cameras, multiple slo-mo decks, larger switchers, and up to 10 people in production are just a few of the features of this class of vehicle.  We can build new, build used, refurb, or reconfigure these units in as little as 30 days.

Finally, here are the "big boys".  These are the production platforms that enable you to "do it all".  The GVW/GVWR here runs the gamut... from 26,001 lbs. to 80,000 lbs. and more (ALL CDL).  Straight sides, expando's, dual expando's, triple expando's... we can build it.   We have a wide selection of trucks and trailers available from which to choose.  Re-arrange, add slide-outs, refurb and re-configure, or just add features... US Broadcast does it all... and the prices start a lot lower than you may think!
